Pediatric Services

MMPT was founded in 1995, and the initial reason for its being was the considerable need for pediatric therapy in northeast Louisiana. Literally thousands of patients have now been a part of the MMPT family, and it was Melanie’s dream to build a community of inclusion and acceptance among children of all abilities, having been very close to a young man with spastic cerebral palsy while growing up. Our pediatric clients not only get thorough evaluations in PT, OT, and ST, but they are further provided with home exercise programs to begin on day one of treatment. The siblings and parents are involved in therapy, and encouraged to learn how to best handle the child at home, be it behaviorally, motorically, or from a sensory standpoint.
Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is a therapy which uses a child’s primary occupation, such as play, to improve fine motor, social, and self help skills needed to function within a child’s home, school, and community environments.
Physical Therapy
Pediatric Physical Therapy (PT) incorporates a variety of treatments to help build strength, improve movement, and strengthen gross motor skills needed to complete daily activities.
Speech Therapy
Pediatric Speech Therapy uses a variety of treatments and strategies to improve skills needed to understand and produce language and improve feeding and swallowing problems.
Checklists and Warning Signs
Do you feel like your child may benefit from treatment? We have compiled checklists and warning signs for some of the most common diagnoses (Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, Sensory Integration Dysfunction) as well as Developmental Milestones for infants.
