Adult Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapist’s approach to rehabilitation is a holistic one that goes beyond an isolated injury or diagnosis to include the entire person and each individual’s functional needs and roles. The ultimate goal is the client’s return to participation in his or her daily activities. A client-centered evaluation and treatment plan are developed to identify deficits in the ability to perform self-care, home management, and outside activities, including work and develop strategies to overcome these deficits.

Occupational therapy intervention may additionally include a comprehensive evaluation of the home or work environment if needed, recommendations for and training with adaptive equipment, and education of the patient and caregivers.
